Fraud and scams warning
Last updated: October 2026
Criminals sometimes impersonate legal practices by email, letter, telephone or messaging app, often to obtain payments or personal information. Please read the points below before acting on any message that appears to come from us.
We do not hold client money
Newstone Law LLP does not hold client money. We will never ask you to pay money to us to be held on your behalf, for example as a deposit, settlement sum or completion monies. Treat any such request as fraudulent.
Our email domain
Our emails come only from addresses ending @newstone.law. Look carefully at the full address, not just the display name: fraudsters use addresses that differ by a single character or use a different ending.
Bank details
We will never tell you by email that our bank details have changed. If you receive a message asking you to pay our fees to a new or different account, do not make the payment. Contact us using the email address on this website, not the details in the message.
If you are in doubt
Email us at office@newstone.law, typing the address yourself rather than replying to the message you received. If you think you have been the victim of fraud, contact your bank immediately and report it to Report Fraud at reportfraud.police.uk or on 0300 123 2040.
